How to Furnish Rooms on a Budget

Most homeowners will tell you it takes time to gather a collection of great furniture that is comfortable and cozy, and that makes their house feel homey. Usually, good furniture costs a lot of money, so most homeowners cannot afford to go out and furnish an entire house all at one time. However, if you have a houseful of empty rooms, you may be eager to get things organized and give yourself the ability to spend time comfortably in every room in your house. If you have rooms that are empty and unwelcoming, you are just wasting space that you have paid for. The best environments are filled with comfortable furnishings and accessories that you love. You should want to spend time in every room in your house. If you need a way to furnish many rooms in a short period of time, those with homes can look in a variety of different places. Real estate can be pricey, but you can fill your house with great furnishings and accessories that are unique, personalized, and comfortable for everyone who comes into the space.

Home Office Staging Tips

Many residential properties today have a fully functioning home office. Many are quite cluttered with documents, folders, binders, “to do” lists, piles of trade magazines, and basic chaos.

This may sound familiar to you (I’m not judging here – I know plenty of people who work that way), but it’s no way to show your home office when your place is for sale. Do you really want a bunch of strangers looking at your work product, or worse walking off with a file?

For security reasons, take steps to remove and hide all important papers, clear your desk of clutter, power down your computer and if it’s a laptop, keep it with you!

Creating a Fabulous Entryway

How do you make an entrance fabulous? Or, more importantly, how do you make it organized? It takes some planning. As with any area that has a lot of traffic, clutter quickly changes an entrance into a fortress in disarray. When maintained and organized this space can serve you and your company well. Carefully selected functional furniture, pleasant display of art objects, along with simple fresh flowers or plants will create a warm introduction to your home.

Why Depersonalize Your Home When Listing it For Sale?

Realtors will often suggest taking personal items out of your home prior to putting it on the real estate market. When home staging, this is a great tip. Doing this will help potential buyers feel more comfortable with the idea of purchasing your home, and in the long run will make you feel better about selling your home. Removing everything that is personal to you in your home when it is time to put it on the market will create a neutral space. While there are several reasons for this, it is a cost-free step in getting your home ready for home staging.
